Urologists in the UAE
Urology treats the urinary tract in all patients and the male reproductive system, covering kidney stones, urinary tract infection, prostate conditions, bladder dysfunction, incontinence, male infertility and urological cancers. It is both a medical and a surgical specialty, and much of it is now performed endoscopically or robotically. Sub-specialisation is common, particularly in stone disease, uro-oncology, andrology and female urology.
Choosing a practitioner
Kidney stones and prostate care are the two most common reasons to see a urologist in the UAE, and both have several legitimate treatment routes — ask what the alternatives are and why one is being recommended. For prostate cancer in particular, active surveillance is an established option for low-risk disease and should be discussed, not skipped. If robotic or laser surgery is proposed, ask how many the surgeon has performed and what the open or conventional alternative would involve.
