Cardiologists in the UAE
Cardiology covers the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmia, valve disease and hypertension. General cardiologists handle assessment, imaging and medical management. Interventional cardiologists perform catheter-based procedures such as angioplasty and stenting; electrophysiologists treat rhythm disorders with ablation and implanted devices. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in the UAE, and risk-factor management is a substantial part of routine practice. Commonly searched as heart doctors.
Choosing a practitioner
Establish which kind of cardiologist you need: a rhythm problem is an electrophysiologist's field, while chest pain under investigation usually starts with a general or interventional cardiologist. Ask which hospital they admit to, since emergency cardiac care depends on catheterisation lab access and out-of-hours cover. If a procedure is proposed, ask what the evidence says about doing it versus optimising medication first — for stable coronary disease this is a genuine and well-documented clinical debate, not a sign of hesitation.
